Advent – A Countdown to Christmas
In years past I was always so well intentioned to do something special for advent. If I think hard enough back I can remember the advent calendars that you pop out chocolate daily. Do you remember these?
You can find all these and MORE on amazon HERE. There’s so many different ways to countdown for Christmas. In years past we’ve enjoyed the LEGO Advent Calendars but, boy does that get expensive when you have 4 children and each LEGO set runs $30-$40 and apparently on amazon even $50. They sure are cute… but expensive. You can find them HERE.
A New Tradition… For Us Atleast
This year I’ve chosen to do something a little bit different. I have chosen to utilize my children’s love of reading and the Christmas books that we have around our house to do our very own Countdown to Christmas. Friends of mine have shared about how much they have enjoyed their experience with doing a book advent with their children. I am so hopeful that my children will really enjoy our countdown to Christmas. I’m hopeful that this will be our new tradition.
I believe we had just shy of 20 Christmas books already. My children are big readers. I literally had my children help me on Friday, December 1st find our Christmas books (grace right?). I am sitting here on December 3rd wrapping up a few book purchases and heading out to the store to buy wrapping paper. The plan is to read 1 book a night through Christmas morning. In good ole “Manda fashion” tonight will be a big book reading night.” (ha!)
I wanted to share with you the books that I have and the books that I purchased mostly from amazon and Target. I also want to share with you books that my friends and family members have shared that they love reading with their families as well. If you have any books that you think should be included on my list please share below in the comments and I’ll try to add them! 🙂
