I Was Nominated For A Liebster Award!!!

Liebster Award WinnerGrace Inspired Home was NOMINATED for a Liebster Award!

You guys, I could just cry I am so excited! I actually had to google what in the world a Liebster Award was. Talk about such a sweet, sweet gesture. I was having one of those moments wondering why in the world I was pushing myself so hard to learn the ins and outs of blogging. It takes an incredible amount of time at this point. There’s just so much more to it than “just” blogging. Goodness so much more…

Ashley! Thank you from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART for your nomination of my blog for the Liebster Award. I am having trouble finding the words to explain to you the timeliness of your nomination. I had been questioning whether or not my words were having any impact or let’s be honest, if anyone was truly reading my blog. Thank you so much I am beyond honored and absolutely accept your nomination.

Ashley from Navigating the Year’s Blog

Ashley thank you so much for nominating my blog for this award. What an honor. You can find Ashley’s blog “Navigating the Year’s blog here. Ashley shares a lot about her love for parenting and a love in particular for helping parents that are navigating the tween/teenage years. Ashley offers a great deal of resources for parents with regards to raising tweens/teens including money and life skills and developing character. I particularly enjoy a section on Ashley’s job that includes “Parent Pain Points.” I love how real she is in sharing her story through her own personal life lessons. It really makes her relatable. It’s like I’m sitting at the kitchen table having coffee with a friend. Ashley’s blog is a truly invaluable resource for parents of tweens/teenagers.

Simple As That Blog – Rebecca Cooper

Rebecca Cooper from the Simple As That Blog has a pretty big web following across all social media platforms in addition to her blog. I originally found Rebecca on facebook and have since become a huge fan of hers. Rebecca focuses on finding both the joy and beauty in the simple every day things. I enjoy Rebecca’s blog because she is always so encouraging. Between the fun craft ideas, free printable, her beautiful photography tips and tricks (photography is near to my heart! I LOVE photography!) and especially her encouragement through the holidays.

While I do not know Rebecca personally I have been so blessed by both her blog and social media accounts. With the new year just a couple days away, Rebecca has a free goal planner available on her blog. Head on over to Simple As That and download the “Get Things Done Goal Planner”There’s definitely power in a fresh start and we have a wonderful opportunity to embrace 2018 with a plan.

10 Random Facts About Me

  1. In 1999 as a teenager I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina on a missions trip. I have also been to Mexico on a mission trip in addition to serving locally (NY). I have always had a heart for God and people.

  2. I married my brother’s dorky friend. I believe Brian would say that he knew long before we were even an “item” that we’d be married. I love him for that. We’ve been married 14 years (12/27/03)!

  3. I have 4 babies, well 3, 6, 9 and 12 year old kids… I still call them my babies even if they are big. Actually I’m pretty sure they will always be my babies.

  4. If it were up to me I’d have more babies. My single greatest regret is that I can no longer have babies.

  5. My favorite movie is 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I love how Henry meets Lucy and loves her so much that every morning he wakes up and tries desperately to win Lucy’s heart.

  6. My family teases me because I randomly will burst out in song. It’s amazing because typically speaking I have a song for everything. I get this from my mom.

  8. I’ve always dreamed of writing a book. I have a bit of insecurities with my grammar and other nonsense like people picking apart the message I’m trying to share.

  9. I’m a sucker for predictable love stories. Sometimes I just need a sappy love story to pick my spirits up.

  10. LEGOS are my de-stressor. I currently am working on the Disney Castle! 🙂

My Answers to Ashley’s Questions

(A Liebster Award Nomination Step)

1. Why did you start blogging?

When Brian and I were first married I blogged a lot and really enjoyed doing so. Do you remember Xanga? I found that when I was actively blogging I was able to document our every day life and it really made me happy. I loved having a blog as an outlet to write and just be me. As a result of my blog I made some really awesome friends. I started blogging this summer because I wanted an outlet to write about things that were near to my heart and things that I’ve been learning. I love encouraging others and doing so through my story.

2. How do you help people with your blog?

A lot of times I tell my story in a way to help encourage other people in certain areas. Take for instance parenting. I am so far from the perfect parent but there are some things that I’ve learned over the years that really work. A lot of times I share my mistakes to relate and encourage other parents at the same time. It is my hope that people read my blog and learn to accept grace as a true gift from God. Perfection can be draining and can sometimes even get in the way of progress. I really hope people are encouraged to receive grace while embracing imperfect progress.

3. Who helped you start your blog?

You know, I had a general understanding of wordpress as I ran a photography blog prior. My husband randomly would troubleshoot different things for me. Otherwise, I’d have to say I’ve found help in the form of blogging tutorials found on pinterest, random videos on youtube and various people on private facebook groups.

4. For what are you grateful?

I am grateful for my husband. He supports me in all areas of my life. He encourages me and pushes me to do and be better. I’m grateful for his belief in me because I don’t always believe in myself.

5. Can you please share with me a struggle that you have overcome?

Have you ever heard the quote, “Comparison is the thief of Joy?” …I really wish I could say that I’ve completely overcome comparing myself to others but, I can say that I have spent the last year really working on loving myself. Loving the the journey that I am on. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing my life, family, blog or successes to others that I get lost in the joy in my story. My life isn’t perfect but I wouldn’t change a single thing. I’m finding joy in my mess and learning grace through the entire process.

6. Tell us about one of your first jobs and how it impacted you.

My first job technically would be as a babysitter… that was hard and rewarding at the same time. I babysat a lot of children over the years but the most memorable was a boy that had down syndrome. He was so smart and so good at video games. He really taught me to see people through a different lens… yes, sure he had down syndrome and he was a little different but boy was he human and boy did he love me. I think through him I learned that no matter how different we are, we are all people and we all deserve love and respect. I may have been intimidated by people that were different than me prior to meeting him. Today I’m a better person for having spent time watching him.

7. What influences your character?

My character is heavily influenced by God. While I am so far from the perfect Christian woman I am so thankful for God’s presence in my life and His grace. I’m a wife and I am a mommy and sometimes I act anything but the perfect example to my family but because of God’s grace I can wake up each day and start fresh and new. I have little ones that look up to me and I am so thankful that I have a relationship with God.

8. What is the best tip you learned as a teenager to handle money?

Hustle. Work hard. Make money and don’t spend it all.

9. What life skill do you wish that you had as a young adult? Why?

I’ve actually thought about this a lot. I feel like my parents did a great job raising my siblings and I. We were well loved, cared for and told about Jesus. The one area however that I really wish my parents taught us more about would be money. I think money was a bit of a stressor growing up and so money was the last thing we were taught. Because of this however, Brian and I are trying to teach our children to be financially smart.

10. What are your top 3 non-fiction books?

I tend to read a lot of self-help/personal development books. My current reads are “Grace Not Perfection” by Emily Ley, Captivating by Stasi Eldredge and Dance, Stand, Run: The God-Inspired Moves of a Woman on Holy Ground by Jess Connolly. I highly recommend all three of these books. Next up for me is probably Emily Ley’s next book, “A Simplified Life: Tactical Tools for Intentional Living” but we shall see.
