School’s back in session and my kiddos are excited for a great school year. I don’t think they would openly admit this to anyone? Well, maybe my youngest daughter Addy. My littlest isn’t going to school right now he’s just enjoying being three and his one on one time with mommy. I am really enjoying his company. It feels good to say we are OFFICIALLY back to school.
Adapting To a New Schedule
The summer was filled with lots of late nights and sleep until you wake up days… So to say we are working on getting on a new schedule would be a bit of an understatement. So far things are going really well. I honestly cannot really complain, the kids seem to be adjusting well to our new routine.
I rotate when the kids shower to every other night. On Mondays, Wednesday and Friday the boys may shower. On Tuesday and Thursday the girls shower. This of course rotates. The kids are generally in bed between 8:00-8:30. My oldest wakes up around 7am to ride the bus by 8. The girls wake up at 8 to catch the bus just after 9. I think we’ve gotten in to a good groove here. It’s always so amazing how fast the morning goes by. I feel like I blink and it’s 11am.
A Little Bit About My Kids
My oldest seems to be really enjoying 6th grade, his first year of Middle School and comes home with many stories. The teachers seem to have reignited excitement in him for learning which is exciting. Zach is in advanced courses so he has a really challenging schedule this year. He really seems to thrive when he’s being pushed academically so I’m excited to see what this year has in store for my little man. A victory of sorts? The baby is down for a nap so when Zach got off the school bus today he asked me to watch a movie with him. I’m loving the hour of alone time with him before the girls get home from school.
My oldest girl Lys is in 3rd grade this year and is really excited for this year. She’s enjoying her first ever male teacher. None of my children have ever sat under in the instruction of a male teacher. Maybe that’s a half truth, they have male gym teachers. I think there should be more male role models in our schools. Lys has already shared how her teacher reminds her of her daddy which is cool.
Addy is my youngest school age child in 1st grade. Addy is excited to have Ms. S who was her sisters teacher last year! She has come home from school with so many fun stories and excited to go back the following day! I’m a little nervous that her teacher may compare her to her older sister. While both girls have similarities. Ms. S had Lys in 2nd grade and Addy is just going in to 1st grade… I guess it’s my job to worry about my baby. I believe with my whole heart she will do fine. I know her teacher will communicate with me.
Overall, I truly believe that the kids will have a wonderful year. I will continue to encourage, pray for and play an active role in my their educational experience. What an honor to be a mommy handpicked by God for my children. Here are a few more images that I took of my children yesterday both before and after their first day of school. Enjoy.
