Rae Dunn: My BIGGEST Guilty Pleasure.

I’m trying to pinpoint when it all began… The day I bought my first Rae Dunn mug.

For the life of me I cannot remember which mug was my first. How sad is that? I remember having seen the mugs on Instagram last summer and thinking, “well they’re nice but, really?” I didn’t understand why people were going so crazy for these big white mugs with bold black words. It’s only natural that I stumbled on some of these Rae Dunn mugs at HomeGoods and had that “ah-ha moment!” I now understood first hand the whole obsession behind them. I have many Rae Dunn pieces now including not only mugs but, canisters, a tea pot, a creamer and sugar dish, plates, serving platters, a butter dish, cheese trays, bowls, etc.

First of all these mugs hold massive amounts of coffee and well, I live on coffee. These mugs fit awesome in my hand? Is that a thing with mugs (ha) because they really are the perfect size. Can we please talk about the words on the mugs? You guys, I literally pick my coffee mug based on my mood at the time… Some days I wake up and I feel like I have it all together, I might pick “thankful,” “you are my sunshine”, “calm”, “mom,” or perhaps “YOLO”. Other days I wake up and feel anything but that way. Probably my favorite mug is “hot mess” because let’s face it, most days this is a perfect description of me. Usually in the mornings when I come downstairs my husband will have handpicked a mug for me and has it sitting next to the coffee pot “darling”, “honey”, “sweetie”, “wifey”, etc. This makes me smile.

The simplicity of these Rae Dunn pieces really make them nice. Rae Dunn’s pottery really is affordable starting at $3.99 for mugs and I think the highest price I’ve paid was $12.99 for a canister. I think the price point makes these pieces so sought after. It’s annoying how hard they are to find. I guess part of the fun is in the hunt? I’ve gotten to the point that I no longer go out of my way to find pieces because 9 times out of 10 they are not in the store. It’s one of those things that when you do run in to them at Homegoods, Marshall’s or TJMaxx you better snatch them up because Heaven knows when the next time you’ll find one. People go crazy for all things Rae Dunn! I’m hopeful that one day I’ll stumble on the mixing bowls and grace mug… these are my unicorns.

…some fun finds of mine.

I need to do something with all of my coffee mugs like you do in your first picture! Sucks my kitchen isn’t big enough. That is so perfect for me as I am obsessed with coffee as well. Great post!

Thank you Tara! I got my mug rack from Hobby Lobby! :):) I’m not sure if it’s technically called a mug rack but lol that’s what I use it for. You can even hang it on the wall… I was initially up in the air about getting it because I really like nothing to be on the counters. I’ve had it for a few months now and still love it! 😉

Is it bad that when I see these, all I can think is how much these would go for on eBay? Especially the jars and pitchers! Cute post 🙂

You and me both ha! :X If I had a quarter for every time my husband told me to sell the Rae Dunn pieces for a profit I’d have a whole lot more money. I just can’t bring myself to do so. I get so sad when I don’t see Rae Dunn in the stores that when I actually see them I feel guilty for buying more than one. Stupid guilty conscience. 🙂 Thanks for writing Alexia!
